The story of ‘129’ is divided into two action threads. The first one is played somewhere in Europe, the other takes place in Budapest in 2063. In some further scenes, ten additional countries also appear. In the future we see flying cars and drones everywhere. Medrocorp British Research and Development Company is expanding its influence on the whole world, and they are observing people. They possess significant biological and technical developments, such as cloned arms, bones, organs, robots, flying cars and drones.
The sci-fi movie, ‘129’ powerfully holds a mirror up on our controlled society.
In 1984, we get to know a composer, Orlando, who accidentally kills his neighbour. Orlando has a wife and a little daughter. From that point his life is getting more and more complicated, since he is under investigation.
In 2063, a soldier named 129 escapes from Medrocorp’s building, whom we are getting to know through his thought. The mysticism of the film is that the soldier appears in Orlando’s dreams, and talks to him, trying to get in touch with him. The big question of the story is what does these two characters have to do with each other, who are 80 years away from each other.
Another Big Question
Additionally, two men from the future somehow sees the past and they are watching Orlando. These two men also appear in the past, as well as Orlando’s wife, daughter, brother and neighbor in the future. Another big question of the movie is how can they see the past from the future, and how can these people exist in two different times?
The Third Thread
In 2063, Medrocorp’s development director Robert Kovats wants to bring down the company. So he creates an adult robot, Lia, who is the double of his six-year-old daughter who died of cancer. Robert uploads compromising data about Medrocorp into Lia’s brain to destroy the company.
Peter Noel was born in Hungary, as the third child of teachers. Although Peter’s three novels have already been published in Hungary, ‘129’ is his first feature film. The book adaptation of the movie is released on the day of the hungarian film premier, February 28, 2023.
He wants to shoot stories that encourage the audience to think further, and will motivate them to watch it again. As a sci-fi, ‘129’ is rich in spectacular visual effects, however, it was a prior perspective to keep them in balance with human aspects and dramatic situations. He believes that the most valuable movies and stories are the ones that are being watched over and over again and yet, there is always something to discover.
Since 2020, his feature film scripts have been finalists and semi-finalists 125 times in major competitions in the US and other countries, until 2021-2022, when he won 10 Grand Prizes and 8 Best Script Awards. He has 18 first places in total. Grand Prizes: British Pinewood Studios Lift-Off Global Network, Benin City Film Festival, The Great American Script Contest, Near Nazareth Festival 3x, Kinoscript Screenwriters Festival and Black Feedback Film Festival, ect…
